We are proud to support Rotary International and in particular The Rotary Club of Basildon. Rotary International, the world’s first service organisation aims to help communities both home and abroad. Internationally, Rotary helps with education, sanitation, medicine and provides instant help with disasters such as drought, floods, earthquakes, tsunami etc. Locally, Rotary helps with large and small community projects for example; Basildon Hospital’s Polly Parrot Appeal to help equip the new Children’s A & E Dept. and on a smaller scale the Computers For The Disabled, a very small and unique service offering refurbished computers free of charge to the disabled and housebound. End Polio Now! In 1985 Rotary started immunising children and made a pledge “to eradicate Polio from the world.” Thanks to Rotary and it’s partners including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation the world has seen Polio cases plummet by an incredible 99%. However the last 1% are the most difficult and expensive to prevent. Challenges include geographic isolation, worker fatigue, armed conflict and cultural barriers. That’s why Rotary International will continue to raise funds to End Polio Now. To fail is to invite a polio resurgence that would condemn millions of children to lifelong paralysis and death in the years ahead. Please click
